Indeed and the admininstration of universities in Australia has largely been taken over by people imported from the corporate sector - as the fashionable ideology is the corporate sector knows best and is most efficient.

Many have lost large amounts of money as a result and, as is usual, with corporations it is the actual workers (academics reseachers etc) who are expected to take the cuts and increases in work to make up the shortfalls and pay for the rapid increase in upper management salaries.

In many systems, as you will know, the ideology of the dominant sector gets imported into areas where it may not work so well - not that there is much evidence it works that well in the corporate sector either :)
