[Air-L] Society for Philosophy and Technology conference - deadline extended

Dear AoIRists,

>From May 26-29, 2011, the University of North Texas will host the 17th
international conference of the Society for Philosophy and Technology:
<https://spt2011.unt.edu/>. The conference theme is "Technology and
Security," but papers reflecting on any aspect of technology are welcomed.
We also welcome interdisciplinary submissions from those studying technology
in fields other than philosophy.  Abstracts can be submitted to:
spt2011 at unt.edu. The deadline is January 10, 2010.

The keynote speaker is P.W. Singer, Senior Fellow and Director of the 21st
Century Defense Initiative at the Brookings Institution and author of Wired
for War: The Robotics Revolution and 21st Century Combat.

In particular, I and colleague Ed Spence (School of Communication and
Creative Industries, Charles Sturt University) are co-chairing a track on
"Media and the information society".  I would encourage submissions from
AoIR-engaged philosophers and the philosophically-inclined - and/or your
colleagues and graduate students who may also be engaged in work along these
lines.

Papers will be accepted on the basis of a submitted abstract, which will be
refereed. An abstract must be between 500 and 750 words in length
(references excluded) and submitted via email (spt2011 at unt.edu) as embedded
plain text or an attachment in RTF, WORD, or PDF format.

Panel proposals are also possible.
