Full-time PhD Studentship
Leadership and Influence in Online Groups

University of Bath - Interactions Lab, School of Management

Applicants are sought for a PhD position, to commence as soon as possible, based in the Interactions Lab (www.interactionslab.net), part of the School of Management at the University of Bath (http://www.bath.ac.uk/management).

This PhD position is funded as part of a wider collaborative project between the University of Bath, Penn State University and Warwick University looking at leadership in the context of ideological groups and national / homeland security. The PhD student will be working with a post-doctoral researcher at Bath studying leadership and influence in online groups.

The studentship covers all tuition fees (for Home/EU students) and an annual stipend of £13,590 (adjusted for inflation annually) for three years. The start date will be between 1st November 2011 and 1st January 2012. Interviews will be held in the week of the 17th October.

Applicants must have at least a 2:1 Undergraduate degree and preferably a Masters degree in an appropriate subject. (e.g. a numerate social science, psychology, computer / information science, management). You must be able to demonstrate empirical and quantitative skills and preferably an interest in online or group behaviour, influence and/or interpersonal behaviour on the Internet or security-related issues.
