I am delighted to announce that we have two new lectureships to support our flourishing program in Digital Anthropology at University College London.

1) Lecturer in Digital Anthropology

UCL Department / Division
Anthropology
Grade 7 Hours Full Time
Salary (inclusive of London allowance) £35,707- £38,744 per annum
The expected start date for this post is 01/09/2012.
Duties and Responsibilities The postholder will be based in the Material Culture section of the Department of Anthropology, and, while contributing to core teaching in Digital Anthropology will be expected to participate and contribute to Anthropology and Material Culture teaching more generally. They will have a specific responsibility to teach, administer and develop the MSc in Digital Anthropology. They will also help establish a new research centre in Digital Anthropology, including liaising with commercial and other institutions involved in digital technologies, where students may be placed for internships and which may collaborate with our centre. They will also carry out, supervise and develop new research in Digital Anthropology.

Key Requirements The successful candidate will be a professional anthropologist fully qualified in the discipline and with experience in ethnographic research. They will also have carried out research and published in the specific field of digital anthropology, though this may include any relevant domain, such as new media, digital infrastructures, open-source, gaming or cultural distinction. They will be a promising researcher also able to carry out teaching and administration in Digital Anthropology.

2) Lecturer in Digital Anthropology and Material Culture

UCL Department / Division Anthropology
Grade 8 Hours Full Time
Salary (inclusive of London allowance) £39,818- £43,236 per annum
The expected start date for this post is 01/09/2012.
Duties and Responsibilities
The postholder will be based in the Material Culture section of the Department of Anthropology, and, while contributing to core research in Digital Anthropology and Material Culture will be expected to participate and contribute to Anthropology more generally. They will have a specific responsibility to teach, administer and support the MSc in Digital Anthropology and help develop a wider centre in Digital Anthropology.
 
Key Requirements
The successful candidate will be a promising researcher able to carry out teaching and administration in Digital Anthropology and some other area within Material Culture studies which could include consumption, media, museums, art and visual culture, materials or a particular genre of material and visual culture. They should have evident experience as an ethnographer. They should also have teaching experience and publications in both the fields of Digital Anthropology and Material Culture studies.
