2 Assistants (50%)

2 Project Assistants SNF (50%)

Job description: 2 Assistants (50%)

Temporary position of Research and Teaching Associate (1 year) with a possibility of renewal for up to 5 more years and a possible increase of employment percentage by way of third party funds.

 

Job specifications  

*	University degree in communication science or adjacent social science discipline (e.g. Licentiate, Master)
*	Interest in further academic qualification; research experience of advantage
*	Prior knowledge or high interest in the areas of New Media/Internet/Mobile Communication, media politics and/or media economics, media technology, Internet & society
*	Very good knowledge of quantitative and/or qualitative research methods and their application; experience with statistical and other analysis software
*	Fluent in spoken and written German and English, further foreign language competence (especially Swiss national languages) of advantage
*	Strong team orientation
*	Accurate and reliable working attitude

Key activities  

*	Collaboration in research projects
*	Further academic qualification (dissertation) along the lines of the Division’s research and teaching areas
*	Conference presentations and publications
*	Teaching
*	Student supervision and administrative work

 

Job description: 2 Project Assistants SNF (50%)

Temporary position of Project Assistant (2 years), tied to a project that analyzes automatic selection processes in the Internet (Algorithmic selection in the Internet. Operating modes, significance and effects of automatic selection processes in the information society). This project is financed by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) (see http://mediachange.ch/research/algorithmic-selection-internet).

 

Job specifications 

*	University degree in communication science or adjacent social science discipline (e.g. Licentiate, Master)
*	Interest in further academic qualification; research experience of advantage
*	Knowledge in the areas of New Media/Internet, media economics and media management, innovation research or technology assessment
*	Prior knowledge or interest in automatic selection processes in the Internet (e.g. search engines, news aggregators, recommender systems)
*	Fluent in spoken and written German and English, further foreign language competence (especially Swiss national languages) of advantage
*	Strong team orientation
*	Accurate and reliable working attitude

Key activities 

*	Collaboration in the research project Algorithmic selection in the Internet. Operating modes, significance and effects of automatic selection processes in the information society
*	Theoretical analysis of automatic selection processes and services as well as their integration into communication studies
*	Case studies of business models and operating modes of selected applications of algorithmic selection in the Internet
*	Social impact and governance of algorithmic selection in the Internet
*	Conference presentations and publications
*	Teaching
*	Administrative work
