I'd look at the concept of DIY. 

Here's one of the seminal texts of DIY culture.
 Hebdige, Dick (1979), Subculture: The Meaning of Style, London, Metheun.

There's plenty more out there, particularly on music so you should be in good hands.

Hi all,

As part of a project I'm working on, I'm interested in finding literature on amateurism and the internet, especially involving entertainment, music performance, and youtube/video sharing (the sweet spot would center on Justin Bieber, Ellen, Rebecca Black, etc), but I'm certainly open to broader perspectives. 

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
