[Air-L] discursive construction of online anonymity

Anonymity and pen names have been an integral part of the Delphi Method and
have been
done online beginning in 1972.   A summary of the reasons for using
anonymity are summarized
in the Delphi Method book on my website.   A lot of computer Mediated
Communication systems allowed the
choice of anonymity or pen names in group discussions.

An early controlled experiment on 5 person groups in middle management in a
major company was
done by roxanne hiltz in hte late 70's comparing the different outcomes of
groups using pen names verses their
actual name showed that when managers had to use their real names they
never talked about what they considered to
be past wrong decisions made by the company.    when they used pen names
they brought up a lot of past related decisions relevant to the planning
problem they were suppose to resolve.

it was published, but the complete oriignal detailed report of the "cccc"
research center at njit is listed in the library at njit online archive of
