Clinical Assistant Professor, Non-Tenure-Track

The Department of Media, Culture, and Communication in the Steinhardt
School of Culture, Education and Human Development at New York University
invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor specializing in
digital-software literacy.  The appointment, which will begin September 1,
2013, is a one-year, teaching-intensive non-tenure-track appointment that
is renewable upon review.

We are seeking applicants for a clinical assistant professor to teach
courses and lead initiatives in digital-software literacy primarily for
undergraduates with some involvement in the MA program.  This position will
be key to fostering departmental initiatives in digital-software-coding
literacy for our large number of undergraduate majors, and designing
courses that integrate theory and technical skills.

The Department of Media, Culture, and Communication serves over 750
undergraduate majors and offers MA and Ph.D. programs of study. The
Department emphasizes interdisciplinary scholarship and encourages

Responsibilities:  Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate
courses in digital literacy and could also include specialized courses in
code studies, algorithmic and computational approaches to media, data
mining, media activism, copyright, code studies, multi-model inquiry, and
software studies.  This faculty member would initiate and
manage pedagogical projects in digital literacy; advise student projects in
digital media; and provide public engagement with issues of digital media
for the department.  The primary foci of this position are teaching and
administration.

Qualifications:  A Ph.D. is required and skills in software programming are
preferred.
