Dear all,

Along with my co-editor Gerard Goggin, I am happy to announce the book series Studies in Mobile Communication, at Oxford University Press.

We are seeking proposals for monographs in the area of mobile communication and society. Below, you will find information on the series and how to develop a proposal

Please let us know if you have any questions or you need further information.

Rich L.

The book series Studies in Mobile Communication, edited by Rich Ling and Gerard Goggin, seeks high-quality monographs on mobile communication that demonstrate theoretical or methodological advances in the field. Especially welcome are book projects that address understudied countries, regions, or cultural settings, or pursue new dimensions of mobile communication. The goal of this series is to foster the development of monographs that provide a broader understanding of mobile communication, new media, and culture across the social sciences and humanities.

To submit a book proposal for consideration, please send a cover letter, a copy of your CV or résumé, a prospectus/proposal (details below), and sample chapters from the work to the series editors. If you are approaching multiple publishers, please say so in your submission. E-mail submissions to can be sent to riseling at gmail.com or gerard.goggin at sydney.edu.au.

The series editors will make the primary determination as to whether the proposed book should be recommended to Oxford University Press. If the project is a potential fit for the series, OUP will have the project evaluated by two to three peer reviewers. Before any book can be accepted for publication by OUP, it must be approved by OUP's Editorial Board.

Please take care to include the following information in your prospectus:
1. Name(s) of author
2. Preliminary title
3. Table of contents and a concise description of the volume
4. What are the main selling points and unique aspects of your book?
5. Intended audience
6. Any publications that are potential competitors. Please include author(s)/editor(s), year of publication, title, publisher, and price if known.
7. Status of the project (Is a full manuscript available? Are sample chapters available?)
8. Projected length of the project (in number of words or manuscript pages)

Please provide the names and email addresses of up to three professionals in your field who are qualified to objectively read and evaluate your manuscript. Note that suggested reviewers may or may not be approached, as OUP has its own network of reviewers and may consult reviewers suggested by the series editors.
For more information on the series, please contact the series editors or the OUP editor for the series.
