[Air-L] Private BitTorrent trackers - history, analysis, knowledge?

I was wondering whether anyone on the list has written (or has read) anything about the history of BitTorrent as a technological artefact?
I’m especially interested in private trackers. Which was the first one to be set up, I wonder?
