[Air-L] Books on social media

Dear Burcu: & others:
Few months ago, I have requested in the group to recommend material and
books for a course on social media. I had also promised that I would share
the learnings. Recommendations from the members are really useful. I tried
the course with my MBA students here last term. Looks like the course is
shaping up well.
Following are my suggestions, out of reading and testing:
1. Blanchard, O. (2012). Social Media ROI: Managing and Measuring Social
Media
Efforts in your Organization. Pearson: New Delhi. (This book is really good
from a practice view)
2. Flynn, N. (2012). The Social Media Handbook. New Delhi: Wiley India.
(for social media audit in organizations)
3. Kietzmann, J. H et al., (2011). Social Media? Get
Serious! Understanding the functional building
blocks of social media. Business Horizons, 54,
241-251
4. Kaplan, A. M. and Hanlein, M. (2010). Users of the
world, unite! The challenges and opportunities of
social media. Business Horizons, 53, 59-68

(above articles are great starting points)

5. This is a nice piece:
• Piskorski, M. (2011). Social Strategies
that work. Harvard Business Review,
Nov., 117-122.

All ecommerce text books have a chapter on Social media as well.
