Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships – Call for applications

Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships are the most prestigious postdoc
fellowships in Canada, and are available to postdoctoral fellows
working in all fields that fall under any of the three tri-council
funding agencies: NSERC, SSHRC & CIHR. The aim of the program is to
attract and retain top-tier national and international postdocs and to
position these postdoctoral fellows for success as research leaders of
tomorrow.

The application requirements for these prestigious awards (valued at
$70,000/year for 2 years, beginning between April and October of 2015)
are unique, in that they are not only based on the merit of the
applicant and their potential to launch a successful
research-intensive career, but also focus on the synergy between the
applicant, the proposed supervisor, and the host institution (and its
commitment to the research program and environment with which the
applicant is to be affiliated). Applicants must therefore complete
their application in full collaboration with the proposed host
institution.

This year’s national application deadline is September 24, 2014. But
because of the extensive nature of the applications, and the required
institutional elements, the internal deadline for pre-applications
(notices of intent) to the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral
Studies is August 22, 2014. Applicants who will be supported by the
university for the national competition will be notified by September
3, 2014.

We encourage faculty to recruit exceptional postdoctoral researchers
whose research aligns well with one of the research strengths of the
university to submit an application to FGPS by the August internal
deadline.
