1. 2014 Social Media & Society Conference | Toronto, ON | September 27-28

SOCIAL MEDIA & SOCIETY, a GRAND-sponsored conference, will be held on September 27-28, 2014 in Toronto, ON, Canada. We invite GRAND researchers and HQPs who are doing research on social media to submit a work-in-progress poster. The due date is May 23, 2014.

A limited number of GRAND HQP will be offered a travel subsidy that will include $1000 towards eligible travel related expenses and a complimentary conference registration.

2. IEEE Games, Entertainment, and Media (GEM) 2014 | Toronto, ON | Event date: October 22-24

Submission Deadline Extension (IEEE GEM 2014): The IEEE Games, Entertainment, and Media (GEM) 2014 conference submission deadline for full and short papers has been extended to Friday June 6, 2014. The submission deadline for the other paper deadlines (extended abstracts/posters, demos, workshops, tutorials) is still Friday August 1, 2014.

The IEEE Consumer Electronics Society is pleased to announce the First IEEE Games, Entertainment and Media (GEM) Conference. The venue will provide an opportunity for the demonstration and study of the ways in which games and game technologies are transforming the educational and cultural landscape. The exhibition area will allow researchers, developers and industry professionals to demonstrate how they are using these technologies in research, as teaching tools and as means of modifying behavior in any number of fields.

The 16th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction with Mobile Devices and Services (MobileHCI) is the premier forum for innovations in mobile, portable and personal devices and with the services to which they enable access. MobileHCI brings together people from diverse areas which provides a multidisciplinary forum for academics, hardware and software developers, designers and practitioners to discuss the challenges and potential solutions for effective interaction with and through mobile devices, applications, and services. MobileHCI maintains a small number of tracks along with a wide range of other program aspects to encourage the exchange of research results, ideas and future research endeavours.

Our conference chairs Sara Diamond (OCAD) and Aaron Quigley (University of St Andrews) on behalf of Canada's HCI community and mobile industries, OCAD University and the Graphics, Animation and New Media Network of Centres of Excellence (GRAND NCE) invite you to Toronto for MobileHCI 2014. Our conference will begin on Tuesday September the 23rd 2014 with our workshop, interactive tutorials and doctoral consortium. The main conference program follows on Wednesday September the 24th until Friday September the 26th with our papers program, demonstrations and mobile experiences, posters, design competition and industrial case studies. The organisers are looking forward to welcoming you to the first MobileHCI conference in Canada and the second only in North America in September of 2014.
