It will explore the quickly emerging area of computer science research that employs empirical methods for studying tracking and algorithmic personalization on the web, focusing on the value of systematic measurement to debates on online privacy and fairness. The conference will discuss cutting edge research, will plan future work, and will ask questions of policy.

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Julia Angwin will give the keynote, and panelists will include experts from leading universities, advocacy organizations, and self-regulatory bodies.
