here is a nice (or depressing!) write up of the Facebook visit from members of the GLBTQ community:

given that ello seems to be really cued into the needs of the GLBTQ community is very refreshing. i am still little worried about the technical matters. is it possible to think about an “alternative” to Facebook that is not only about multiplicity of identities, but also multiplicity of (socio-technical) architectures and development cultures. i hope that ello developers will take this as an opportunity to rethink other (identity) issues like divides between “developers” and “users”, "business models” vs. “participation models”, and maybe also consider learning from the success and failures of attempts at alternatives by initiatives like diaspora, n-1, etc.
we will see where ello goes, but it certainly feels like a very interesting breaking moment for Facebook.
