Dear all

We are excited to announce that we are looking for a new colleague specialising in Digital Sociology to join the Sociology Department at Edinburgh University. We are looking for someone with a specialist interest in digital society and culture who will further the School's international reputation for research in sociology and its commitment to excellence in teaching and administration.

The  full-time and open-ended position is open to creative and flexible candidates with interests in digital technologies and their impact on any aspect of contemporary society, including social stratification and inequalities, social media and popular culture, governance and information, globalisation and trans-nationalisation, cities and urban systems, networks and personal relationships, health and education, social research methodologies and data collection.

A key part of the role will be planning, overseeing and leading a new innovative taught MSc in Digital Society and Culture for delivery in 2016-17, providing a blend of substantive, methodological and practical digital skills and understanding of the impact of digital technologies on various aspects of contemporary societies, such as community, health, war, media, education, popular culture, intimate relationships and global finance.
