Dear Frances,

Have you come across dana boyd's blog post 'guilt through algorithmic association'?, see http://www.zephoria.org/thoughts/archives/2011/09/12/guilt-through-algorithmic-association.html?
She deals with Google's stereotypical terrorism related auto-complete suggestions users may get when typing 'Mohammed' in the search box.

In my forthcoming book Digital Passages. Migrant Youth 2.0 I examine Google's racist auto-complete suggestions as well as image suggestions related the specific empirical case of an ethnic minority youth group in the Netherlands.

I would be happy to share the manuscript that's forthcoming in open access format with Amsterdam University Press.

Best wishes,

Koen.
