Associate/Full Professor and Director of Center for Advanced Media Studies

University of Nevada, Reno

The Reynolds School of Journalism, a program with great momentum and a collegial spirit, seeks a new colleague to join our growing faculty. The Reynolds School is developing a national reputation for innovative curricula, strong support for faculty research through our Center for Advanced Media Studies, and a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in our learning community.

Our new colleague will be tenured or tenureable, commensurate with the requirements of the University of Nevada, Reno, with a developed program of scholarship. Research agendas in data journalism, digital engagement, news innovation, bilingual journalism or health communication are especially valued. The successful candidate will play a leading role in advancing and developing a vision for our Center for Advanced Media Studies (CAMS). CAMS offers research grants and sponsors programs that enhance the Reynolds School’s culture of scholarship and interdisciplinary inquiry.

In addition to continuing your research stream, you will have the opportunity to teach both undergraduate and graduate students in at least one of our curricular areas: news, strategic communication, visual/user-experience design, and health communication (in partnership with the University of Nevada School of Medicine).

The Reno/Tahoe area is a recreational paradise, with great quality of life and a reasonable cost of living. Just 45 minutes from Lake Tahoe and nestled in the Sierra Nevadas, we are close to world-class skiing and snowboarding, kayaking, hiking and bicycling. Reno is home to an emerging tech sector, with a vibrant arts and restaurant scene.
