[Air-L] Qualitative Data Analysis Software

Good suggestions from others here. I think in part it depends on how you
like to see/organize data, and what you'll need to do with it. I initially
was headed towards MaxQDA as I find it visually appealing and intuitive to
use, but ultimately went with NVivo 10 as I wanted the social media plugin
(NCapture). One of my colleagues swears by Dedoose as it lives in the
cloud, and that was very important for his particular needs.

Aside from the software itself, I would also recommend looking around to
see if the user community is active, and general customer service. Having
others to ask about how one function or another works, or how you might
approach a particular analytical question, is invaluable when you are in
the thick of it. I've been very pleased with this aspect using NVivo.

For what it's worth, I run NVivo 10 using Parallels on a Mac. There is a
Mac version, but it's still pretty new and doesn't have the full feature
set. If you are headed down this road, make sure to compare PC and Mac
versions.

Best,
Jodi.
