The Department of Information Systems at New Jersey Institute of Technology
seeks outstanding candidates for a tenure-track position at the level of
Assistant or Associate Professorship in the area of big data analytics.
Candidates must have or be near the completion of a PhD in information
systems, informatics, computing, or a related field.



Preferences will be given to those who specialize in health informatics
and/or smart health, but outstanding candidates in other big data
application areas will also be considered. Desirable candidates are those
with a proven track record in using: pattern recognition, data/text mining,
knowledge representation, decision support, and machine learning for
integration, analysis, visualization, and stream processing of extra-large
scale data from disparate sources and/or in heterogeneous formats, to
solving healthcare problems. Areas of particular interest include
intelligent information systems for clinical/translational researchers and
secondary use of EHR data for research, clinical care, operations,
accountable care, precision diagnostics and medicine, the learning
healthcare system, as well as informatics methods for healthcare knowledge
discovery to be used at any point of care.  Applicants should have an
excellent academic record, exceptional potential for world-class research
and funding, and be qualified to teach introductory courses in Information
Systems and advanced courses in their area of expertise.  Outstanding
candidates with significant funding and publication will be considered at
the associate professorship level.



The IS Department, housed under College of Computing Sciences, has 7 degree
programs (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD) and specializes in both
human-centered computing and data intensive research.  Grant-funded
research is an important part of our work.  Interdisciplinary work is
strongly encouraged across the university and with other partners.



NJIT is located 30 minutes from Silicon Alley and New York City by train.
The area has a high concentration of industry and businesses, with many
opportunities for research collaboration and consulting.  The area offers a
variety of living environments from lively urban to quiet suburbs with
excellent school districts, to hills, farmland and the shore.
