The Social Media Lab at Catholic University of Louvain (UCL) is hiring a full-time researcher (m/f) in communication sciences

The research centre offers a grant holder position dedicated to the
project on the « Analysis of collaborative practices in the value
creation process in entrepreneurship », a joint project with
IMPULSE.BRUSSELS and The iCITE department (ULB).

Project overview

The collaborative economy is subject to a large media coverage due to
its penetration into various aspects of our society, including
consumption, production, financing and knowledge production. The world
of entrepreneurship is likewise impacted by new economic and
collaborative models. From idea to startup creation, networking and
collaboration can accelerate a project’s development and facilitate its
implementation. The main objective of this research project is to
understand the underlying mechanisms facilitating the development of
collective intelligence, particularly through digital platforms.

Job description

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the following
work items:

       A state of the art on platforms for collective intelligence and
collaborative practices in online community of innovators
       Qualitative and quantitative studies on the impact and
productivity of collaborative practices among an online community of
innovators and entrepreneurs

The candidate is expected to enrol in the PhD programme in communication
sciences at Catholic University of Louvain (UCL).
Profile

Candidates must hold a Master degree in communication sciences or social
sciences. In addition to an open-minded and scientifically driven
attitude as well as strong analytical skills, candidates must also
demonstrate the following skills:

       Good knowledge of digital communication and crowdsourcing
       Proficiency with qualitative and quantitative methods, especially
with at least one statistical software package
       Writing skills
       Fluency in both French and English
       Autonomy, rigor and team-working

    Conditions

       Research grant of 2-years, renewable once if funding is sufficient
       Starting date: October 1st, 2016
       Place: louvain-La-Neuve or Mons (Belgium)
