The McGannon Communication Research Center at Fordham University announces
its 2015 McGannon Book Award for Social and Ethical Relevance in
Communication Technology Research.



Nominations for the 2015 Award currently are being accepted. Please note
that last year we changed the focus of the award. Nominees should consist
of book-length research published in 2015 that addresses or informs the
social justice and/or ethical dimensions of communication technology,
broadly defined. Authors of the winning book will be awarded $2,000 and
receive a plaque commemorating the award.



Nominations should consist of a cover letter briefly summarizing the book’s
research focus and findings, along with four copies of the book.
Self-nominations are welcome, as are submissions from early career
researchers and scholars from diverse backgrounds.  Edited volumes are not
eligible for consideration.



Deadline for consideration is March 1st, 2016.  Send nominations to:

ABOUT THE MCGANNON CENTER

The McGannon Communication Research Center was founded in 1986 and is
dedicated to furthering understanding of the ethical and social justice
dimensions of media and communication technologies, particularly how such
technologies affect the distribution of wealth, opportunities, and
privileges within society. The Center engages in, sponsors, and promotes
interdisciplinary academic research that provides an empirical foundation
for informed technological development, policy-making, and debate. McGannon
serves as a hub at Fordham University for faculty, scholars, students, and
visitors interested in the social, legal, political, economic, and cultural
dimensions of communication technologies and emerging media. The center’s
Director is Dr. Alice Marwick, who conducts research into the social,
cultural, and policy implications of social media.
