Tallinn University Centre of Excellence in Media Innovation and Digital Culture (MEDIT) announces the availability of a new post-doctoral position - researcher in media innovation. More detailed description of the post is below. Deadline for applications is 9.08.2016 (in less than a month). This is a two-year project (1.01.2017 - 31.12.2018).
Postdoctoral Researcher in Media Innovation
General description
The postdoctoral researcher will take part of the work of the Tallinn University Centre of Excellence in Media Innovation and Digital Culture (MEDIT). The main objective of the two-year project is to conduct research work as part of the Cross Motion project, part-financed by Interreg Baltic Sea programme. The aim of the research project is to apply and further develop the innovation systems concept in order to interpret the emergence of ‘cross-innovation’ phenomena in the Baltic Sea Region. The project will focus on the cooperation between audiovisual sector (film production, TV and videogames) and three other sectors – tourism, education and health care. The research fellow is expected to study the interactions and coordination between the innovation oriented institutions and regulative frameworks of these sectors in the region. The project will have to investigate the the ways to improve the coordination between the relevant institutions, frameworks and policy measures. Special attention will need to be given to ways to support the growth of start-up companies in these cross-innovation areas. Project will need to finish with a research report.
Job requirements
The candidate must fulfill all general requirements of the position of a research fellow stipulated in annex 9 <http://www.tlu.ee/UserFiles/Personaliosakond/Dokumendid/Konkursid/2016/Empoyment_Relations_Rules_25042016_Annexes_1-10.pdf> of the Employment Relations Rules of Tallinn University.
Additional requirements
Candidate’s previous research needs to be related to at least one of the following research fields or topics: innovation studies (especially research on innovation systems), creative industries, media economics or management, cultural, media or innovation policy.
Job responsibilities

In addition the researcher will have to take part of the work of Cross Motion project – including writing research reports for partners and for the European Commission, also disseminating information on the research results and presenting the results in Estonia and other countries. Guidelines for the research design and its practical execution will be provided by MEDIT’s head Indrek Ibrus who will be also the supervisor of the research project.
Load: 1,0 FTE, including teaching in the volume of at least 5% of the load.

Location: Tallinn.
Language skills: Fluent English is essential; knowledge of Estonian, German, Baltic or Skandinavian languages is beneficial.
