Dear AoIR,

Gohar F Khan just send a short analytical piece on the Australian Elections by comparing the Twitter profiles of two candidates with regard to

- interactivity (measured by re-tweets, relies, user mentions)

- influence and (measured by tweets favorited, re-tweets, user mentions)

- popularity (measured by followers, following ratio, listed).

**Is there an academic reference that someone can recommend regarding how to define/categorize and measure Twitter activities within an ego-centric network analysis??**

>From a methodological point of view I find Khan's suggestion both interesting and difficult as he uses the same item to measure different characteristics.

Hope someone can help with this!

With best wishes,

Maren

Betreff: [Air-L] A Social Media Analytics Perspective on Australian Elections

I thought some of you may like reading this short analytical piece on
Turnbull and Shorten
<https://gfkhan.wordpress.com/2016/06/20/a-social-media-analytics-perspective-on-australian-elections/>'s
social
media presence. The preliminary results seems interesting and can
potentially be replicated in a large scale study? And could such analysis
be used to predict election results? No doubt such questions may have been
answered, but I am just trying to explore some fresh ideas.

Cheers!
