   Hi everyone,

please consider submitting an abstract for the following workshop.
Given the increasing interest in human-machine and human-robot
communication, this might be of interest for some.

   Thanks, Christoph

Call for Abstracts: Workshop on the Ethical, Legal and Social Issues of
   Robots in Therapy and Education
Held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 in Barcelona (from 9.00 am-1.00 pm)

   What is it about?
This 4-hour workshop at the [1]2016 New Friends Conference addresses
the ethical, legal and social (ELS) implications of robots in therapy
and education in a constructive and proactive manner. It takes up
important ELS challenges that come with the introduction of robots in
therapy and education. More specifically, it deals with human dignity,
privacy and liability aspects. These overarching ELS issues - dignity,
privacy, liability - shall be discussed in an open workshop format,
laying the focus on solutions and leaving sufficient time for
discussion. Researchers from all disciplines as well as practitioners
are encouraged to submit abstracts (see below).
The workshop is arranged in an interdisciplinary manner to allow
participants to explore issues directly connected to their own areas of
expertise while also providing the opportunity to engage with
professionals from a wide range of disciplines.

   How can you contribute?
Not only can you participate at the workshop by registering via the
[3]online form but you can also actively contribute with a short input
presentation on one of these four key topics: changing environment of
healthcare and education with the introduction of robots (1), ethics
and dignity implications for patients or students with the introduction
of robots (2), privacy implications for patients or students with the
introduction of robots (3), liability of robots in the context of
   therapy and education (4).
Your contribution must touch upon one of these four topics. Using
concrete examples is welcomed, yet we are open for conceptual and
theoretical pieces. The contribution should be a 1-2 page long abstract
(minimum 350 words, maximum 1000 words). Please provide your abstract
until July 15, 2016 by sending it to: [4]socialrobots2016 at gmail.com
We will notify the contributors by August 1, 2016 if their presentation
   is accepted to the workshop.

The abstracts will be posted on the workshop website
   ([5]https://legalaspectsofsocialrobots.wordpress.com/). Contributors
will also be asked for a short author biography.
