The Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology invites applications for a





W3 Professorship for Sociology

with a focus on technology, work, and society





at the Nuremberg Campus of Technology (NCT) and the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy to be filled by the earliest possible starting date.
The professorship is an integral part of the new Center for Management, Technology & Society (CMTS) that is to be established in Nuremberg in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law, and the Nuremberg Campus of Technology (NCT). CMTS will conduct excellent technology-orientated research and teaching in the social sciences, business, economics, ethics and law. With considerable involvement from the appointed professor, the aim of CMTS will be to contribute to meeting society's need for relevant research findings and to strengthen the links between the FAU faculties involved.

In this context, the successful candidate is expected to represent the field of sociology in relation to technology and current issues in work and society adequately in teaching and research. Candidates should ideally have experience in teaching programmes in science and technology studies. The majority of the appointed professor's teaching duties will be in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in Sociology and in planned degree programmes in the field of digital humanities and social sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in German as well as English.
Applicants should be internationally recognised researchers with an excellent publication record. Experience of working on interdisciplinary empirical research projects, ideally involving disciplines of engineering, is desirable. Collaboration with the other professors, institutes and employees involved in CMTS will be an integral part of the appointed professors' work.
Prerequisites for the position are a university degree in, university level teaching experience, a doctoral degree, and additional academic qualifications. These should be in the form of a Habilitation (post-doctoral thesis) or equivalent academic publications. The necessary qualifications may also have been acquired in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (e.g. W1 Professor or Assistant Professor).

FAU expects applicants to become actively involved in the administration of academic affairs and welcomes experience in managing research projects and raising third-party funding.
