Hi all, apologies for cross-posting. Please consider submitting to this special issue of Social Sciences edited by David Banks and myself. The journal is open access and does not charge author fees.

CFP:

The journal Social Sciences (ISSN 2076-0760) is currently running a Special Issue entitled "Social Media, Internet and Society". Dr. Jenny L. Davis, of the James Madison University (VA, USA), and David A. Banks, of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (NY, USA), are serving as Guest Editors for this issue. We think you could make an excellent contribution based on your expertise.

This Special Issue will focus on theoretically driven work that examines the mutually influential relationship between humans, platforms, devices, and code. Articles can be wholly theoretical or incorporate empirical data, broadly defined, that illustrates a theoretical argument and/or complicates existing theoretical debates. A partial list of suggested topics includes network formation and maintenance, race and racism, big data, small data, gender and sexism/cis-ism, intersectionalities, courtship and dating, sex and sexuality, algorithms and curation, privacy and publicity, digital dualism, augmented reality, popular discourses of new and social media, embodied technology, social media ecologies, prosumption/identity prosumption, political processes, and labor and exploitation. [...]

The submission deadline is 30 September 2016. You may send your manuscript now or up until the deadline. Submitted papers should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. We also encourage authors to send a short abstract or tentative title to the Editorial Office in advance (socsci at mdpi.com<mailto:socsci at mdpi.com>).

Social Sciences is fully open access. Open access (unlimited and free access by readers) increases publicity and promotes more frequent citations, as indicated by several studies. Open access is supported by the authors and their institutes. No Article Processing Charges (APC) apply for well-prepared manuscripts.

For further details on the submission process, please see the instructions for authors<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.mdpi.com_journal_socsci_instructions&d=BQMCaQ&c=eLbWYnpnzycBCgmb7vCI4uqNEB9RSjOdn_5nBEmmeq0&r=iLWI-3F9xeUYlZlWLgCzJA&m=xOUdnGKtYzRCEIT7vAnmxc_RIJ5V11s6tfnb7kIclS0&s=IvGUUdXYWDfffu0L9WM61D3chHfaPi07MSCzvnO5aMA&e=> at the journal website.

We look forward to hearing from you.
