Digital Games Doctoral Colloquium

Call for submissions, ECREA-ECC conference, Prague, November 8, 2016

Submission deadline for abstracts: May 20, 2016

The Digital Games Research section is happy to announce a PhD Colloquium as a pre-conference to the upcoming ECREA European Communication Conference in Prague in November 2016. This colloquium brings together PhD candidates researching digital games and experienced scholars in the field.
The goal is to provide a forum of discussion to young scholars where they can present their research projects and receive feedback, comments, and suggestions for improvement. The intention is to contribute to their research development, as well as to share experiences with other candidates and colleagues.

Participating candidates will have the opportunity to present an overview of their research project and propose a set of questions to the floor. Following the presentation, each participant will receive dedicated feedback from an experienced digital games researcher, addressing both the project in itself, and specific questions provided by the student.

The interdisciplinary nature of games research allows for a rather broad range of topics surrounding digital games. From serious games to gamified experiences, we are interested in projects that are anchored in digital games related to their social, cultural, technical and psychological dimensions. We encourage submissions presenting a wide array of theoretical and methodological approaches.

Submissions should consist of an abstract of no more than 500 words reflecting the theme of the thesis, a brief mention of the theoretical framework and methodological choices. Furthermore, they should include a note on when the project was started and when it is expected to end, as well as, a list of questions or themes of discussion during the feedback in the colloquium.

Notifications of acceptance will be sent on May 30, 2016. All accepted participants will be expected to submit an extended abstract (1,500 words) outlining their project before September 30, 2016. Registration fee for the colloquium will be approx. 20€.
All submissions must be sent via e-mail to ecreagamesprecon at gmail.com. The deadline for submissions is May 20, 2016. The actual colloquium will take place on November 8, 2016, in Prague. Venue TBA.
