Associate or Full Professor in "Technology, Society and Policy"

The UCR School of Public Policy (SPP) invites applications for a tenured
faculty appointment in technology, society and policy. The appointment will
be at the Associate or Full Professor rank. We are looking for candidates
with a strong research record and policy interest in topics at the
intersection of society and technology (particularly broadband and digital
technologies), with an emphasis on the role of public policy in expanding
broadband access and digital literacy, including ways that science and
technology policy can improve social and economic opportunities and civic
participation. We are particularly interested in candidates that have a
research interest in how broadband access and digital technologies can
improve student learning outcomes, narrow the achievement gap in education,
and foster equality of opportunity for students across the grade-level
spectrum-from kindergarten through college.

Applicants should have an established record or promise of outstanding
research accomplishment and teaching; they will be expected to teach and
guide the research of master's and doctoral students, to be committed to a
cutting-edge research program that has direct implications for policy
reform, and to further develop the new School of Public Policy (SPP).
Relevant connections include other core areas of interest in the SPP,
including health policy, environmental policy, and other aspects of social
policy (such as education and immigration), and interdisciplinary research
centers in poverty, sustainable development, healthy communities, and
criminology. The successful applicant will also be expected to play a
leadership role in establishing, and fund-raising for, a new Center for
Broadband Policy and Digital Literacy within SPP.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a related discipline or field, such as
public policy, education, anthropology, communications, economics, political
science, psychology, or sociology. Salary will be competitive and
commensurate with education and experience. The appointment will commence on
July 1, 2017.

Applications should include a letter of interest, a CV, a sample of research
work, and contact information of 3-5 references. All materials must be
uploaded using UCR's on-line application system located at
https:aprecruit.ucr.edu. Review of the applications will begin December 12,
2016 and will continue until the position is filled. To ensure full
consideration, applications and supporting material should be received by
December 11, 2016. Advancement through the faculty ranks at the University
of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations,
occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input.
