The Department of Communication at Lamar University invites applications
for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Multimedia Journalism
(Broadcasting Emphasis) and a tenure-track Assistant Professor
in Multimedia Journalism (Journalism Emphasis),  #496103 and #498875.

In this role, the hire would teach a variety of courses within the
journalism and broadcasting tracks with an emphasis on multimedia
journalism and broadcast production. Courses may include news-writing,
media writing, television writing, post production and editing, electronic
field production, introduction to broadcasting, and other courses relevant
to the applicant’s specialty area and departmental needs.

The hire will also engage in scholarly research and/or creative activity as
well as be an active member in academic advisement and departmental
service. An active research agenda, ideally combining journalism with one
or more of the following areas is required: social, mobile, digital media
and/or the use of virtual reality technologies and video games as
storytelling tools in journalism. The department is open to a variety of
methodological approaches.

The successful applicant would also serve as the faculty advisor for
student media and as an academic advisor for Broadcasting Journalism
majors, as well as serving on departmental, college, and university
committees as needed.

Minimum qualifications: A terminal degree in broadcasting, multimedia
journalism and related discipline as well as experience in field production
and studio production are required.
