[Air-L] Displaying All YouTube Comments?

Dear Paula, Silvana, and everyone,

Robert Ackland and I wrote an open source R package called 'SocialMediaLab, which (among other things) enables users to collect *all* comments from YouTube videos (or very close to all comments). It deals with the pagination issue on YouTube, etc.

You can download the latest stable release for free at: https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/SocialMediaLab/SocialMediaLab.pdf

If you are new to programming, we have written a bunch of tutorials and help guides, available at: http://vosonlab.net/SocialMediaLab#R-helper

I hope this might be of benefit for your research. If you have any questions please feel free to drop a line :^)

Cheers,

Tim

P.S. We will be doing a major update to SocialMediaLab next month, with lots of new functionality and features!

But NCapture never gets all comments. I used NCapture and Nvivo on my
research and you never know the criteria of the comment collect. For
example: in a video with over 4k comments, NCapture collected 1.064; in
another video with 2,5k comments, the tool got 1k. In the help page says
that NCapture collects all comments available on YouTube, but I tried
Netlytic in the same 4k comments video and it collects 2,5k. I end it up
using NCapture 'cause I worked with the comments of a whole playlist and
NVivo makes your life easier to analyze that much data (and with a set for
analytic tools to cross data of the video and comments that are golden).
But you need to know that will never collect all the comments.

NVivo is qualitative data analysis software for researchers working on Windows and Mac operating systems. Try, buy, or learn NVivo today.
