Call for OzCHI DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM Participation
OzCHI 2017

DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM
Current doctoral candidates are warmly invited to present their projects and engage in dialogue with leading researchers and peers around the world at OzCHI 2017. The Doctoral Consortium will provide a stimulating, open, and supportive environemnt for participants to present their current studies and collaboratively explore opportunities and challenges related to conducting doctoral research.

About participants:
Participants should be enrolled in a doctoral project around HCI and related fields of research, ideally between one and two years into the fray. They may already have a clear direction and can anticipate their contribution, but must still have remaining studies within their candidature.

How to participate:
Please submit a research proposal of no more than 4 pages in the OzCHI proceedings template<http://www.ozchi.org/2017/downloads/ozchipaper_template2017.dot> as a .pdf attachment in email to dc.chair at ozchi.org<mailto:dc.chair at ozchi.org> on or before 18 August 2017. Structure your submission as follows:

* Working Title
* Abstract
* Context/Background: What is the research about? What is its scope? Why is it important?
* Prior Work: What do the experts in this field say about your area of research? What similar work has been conducted?
* Gap and Research Question: What is the gap in prior work that needs addressing? What research question will your project answer?
* Research Method: How do you propose to answer your question? Justify your method. How long will each stage take? (include timeline with dates)
* Current Situation: How far have you progressed? (include summary of data/results if appropriate) What are your key concerns and obstacles at the moment?
* Bio: Provided a brief biography, including names and affiliation of supervisors, PhD start date and date of expected completion.

There is no fee to attend the consortium, however participants must register for at least one day of the OzCHI conference.

6 October 2017: Notifications due out
28 November 2017: Doctoral Consortium held at QUT Gardens Point
29 November-1 December 2017: OzCHI 2017 main program
