[Air-L] WEBCAST TODAY: Commerce Spectrum Management Advisory Committee (CSMAC) – Jan 25 2017

Following the resignation of Larry Strickling, the NTIA is currently
headless <https://www.ntia.doc.gov/offices>. However the Office of Spectrum
Management ploughs on under the capable leadership of Paige Atkins. It's a
fine example of multistakeholder process via the Commerce Spectrum
Management Advisory Committee, especially since 2010 when a Presidential
Memorandum ordered 500Mhz of Federal Spectrum be opened up to other uses.
It meets twice a year.The main topic under discussion at the Jan 2017
meeting was spectrum sharing, Obviously the 5Ghz band i.e LTE-U is a major
concern, measuerement, beaconing etc, and the development of 5G. At this
meeting commitments were made to  establish standards, documentation, and
transparency.
