Hello Julian,

The chapter on digitization in the 2012 edition of Havens & Lotz' UNDERSTANDING MEDIA INDUSTRIES does a pretty good job on this topic. Also has a chapter on globalization (https://global.oup.com/academic/product/understanding-media-industries-9780190215323?cc=us&lang=en&#). I haven't seen the 2016 edition, but assume it is at least as good. Although the 2012 book as a whole does rely on some theoretical models, they aren't too challenging conceptually, and the digitization chapter is largely descriptive. Of course, it might be a bit expensive, if you plan to use only one or two chapters.
