One-Year Lecturer in Strategic Communication at Seattle University

The Department of Communication in the College of Arts and Sciences at Seattle University invites applications for a one-year position as a Lecturer in Strategic Communication for the 2017-2018 academic year.  A rapidly growing program, Strategic Communication at SU provides integrated, forward-looking professional education to prepare students for leadership roles in subfields like public relations, advertising, marketing communication, public affairs communication, public information, and nonprofit advocacy.
Applicants must have significant professional experience in a subfield related to strategic communication and the ability to teach courses that complement our existing offerings.  Responsibilities will include teaching 7 courses over the three quarters of the academic year.  Courses will include Strategic Communication Writing, Topics in Strategic Communication, and at least one special topics course in an area of interest for the candidates.  An ability to teach the department's common courses, such as Media Systems, or other courses that complement and expand current departmental offerings is particularly desirable.

Qualifications:  Either a PhD in Communication or a related field or an MA and significant professional experience is required.  Successful experience teaching at the college level is highly desired.

The Communication Department is composed of a single major in Communication and Media with specializations in Communication Studies, Journalism, and Strategic Communication to give students depth of knowledge in those three areas.  Faculty are expected to support all programs and teach classes to all of our students.
