Hello Evelina

In addition to the previous suggestions, I would add:

Cavanagh, A. (1999) ‘Behaviour in public?: Ethics in online ethnography’, Cybersociology, (6), available: http://www.cybersociology.com/files/6_2_ethicsinonlineethnog.html
Greenhow, C. M. (2011) ‘Research methods unique to digital contexts: An introduction to virtual ethnography’ in Duke, N. K. and Mallette, M. H., eds., Literacy Research Methodologies, 2nd ed., New York: The Guilford Press, 70-86.
Grenfell, M. (2006) ‘Critical virtual ethnography’ in Mann, B. L., ed. Selected Styles in Web-Based Educational Research, Hershey, PA: Information Science Publishing, 413-438.
Hine, C. (2000) Virtual Ethnography, London: SAGE.

I also have two publications that introduce virtual ethnography as a method for intercultural communication and multilingualism research:
Lenihan, A. and Kelly-Holmes, H. (2017) ‘Virtual ethnographic approaches to researching multilingualism online’ in Martin-Jones, M. and Martin, D. eds., Researching Multilingualism: Critical and Ethnographic Perspectives, London: Routledge.
Lenihan, A. and Kelly-Holmes, H. (2016) ‘Virtual ethnography’ in Zhu Hua, ed., Research Methods in Intercultural Communication: A Practical Guide, London: Wiley-Blackwell

Best wishes,
Aoife

Subject: [Air-L] Articles introducing digital ethnography?

Hello!

I have been asked to teach students about digital ethnology, is there anyone here who can recommend a good article that introduces this? It is likely to be the students' first teaching opportunity on this field, so I'm looking for articles that fits in as an introduction.

Thanks in advance,
Evelina Liliequist
