Serious Online": this is a longitudinal study comparing survey responses of
the same set of 1501 Americans in March 2000 and March 2001. We asked
Internet users whether "spam" or unwanted email messages were problems for
them. 33% said "yes" in March 2000 and this rose to 44% in March 2001. Of
those who said spam was a problem, 68% in 3/00 said the spam was sales
solicitations; this increased to 78% in 3/01.

We also asked email users (in March 2001 only) if they receive unsolicited
email messages with adult content. 56% said they had, 20% saying they
receive such messages often.

Hope this helps,
