Hi Salvatore,

The first article that came to mind is about a case where interaction with a VR agent that was thought to be human-controlled more engagement than knowing it was AI, because the subjects believed they were "taking a socially relevant action."

Okita, S., Bailenson, J., & Schwartz, D. L. (2008). Mere belief of social action
improves complex learning. In S. Barab, K. Hay, & D. Hickey (Eds.) Proceedings
of the 8th International Conference for the Learning Sciences.

There are likely many studies around chatbots, particularly the ones designed for therapy. There may also be equivalents of the "uncanny valley" phenomenon.

Take care,
Betsy

Subject: [Air-L] Psychological implications of AI

Hello everyone,

I am looking for suggestions about books and articles which specifically deal with the psychological implications of Artificial Intelligence.

There are many articles, books and web resources which deal with what AI can do, what are the dangers, the ethical issues etc

But there are only a few which confront with the psychological impact on human beings when AI enters the scene.

Can anybody suggest some titles/resources?

Thanks!
Salvatore
