Greetings!
Thanks to social media, news is reaching more audience than ever before.
Although there are many how-to guides for practicing social media
journalism, there is a shortage of texts that dwell into the myriad of
social, cultural, political, and economic issues surrounding social media
journalism.
It is due to this lack of discussions about the convergence of news
organizations and social media platforms, that an edited volume, *Social
Media Journalism: Issues and Challenges*, is proposed.
You are invited to submit an abstract for a chapter to be included in this
edited volume. Issues to be addressed in the volume include, but not
limited to:
*****************************************
What is journalism in the age of social media?
How the biases of social media redefine journalism?
What is the role of traditional journalists in the age of social media?
What is the role traditional news publishers in the age of social media?
What is the role of news organizations in the age of social media?
Are technology companies and social media platforms, news organizations?
Who pay for news in the age of social media?
What is the relationships among news production, distribution, and
consumption in the age of social media?
Do technology companies bear any responsibility for fake news?
**************************************
If interested, please submit an abstract of no more than 500 words, by
November 15, 2017, to Sarina Chen, sarina.chen at uni.edu.
