The Institute of Communication, Culture, Information and Technology (ICCIT)
at the University of Toronto Mississauga invite applications for a
tenure-stream appointment in the area of Data, Analytics and the City, at
the rank of Assistant Professor. The position start date is July 1, 2018.

Successful candidates will have a focus on the application of advanced
computational methods to analyze large and complex urban issues. The
candidate’s methodological approach may include but is not limited to the
following: spatial statistics, geometrics and/or mapping, network analysis,
and automated textual analysis. The candidate’s research should further
address at least one of the following areas within metropolitan contexts:
social policy, public culture, social software design, social inequality,
e-citizen engagement/participation, or social justice.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in communication, computer science,
geography, political science, computational social science, or a related
field, by date of appointment or shortly thereafter, and demonstrate
excellence in research and teaching. Excellence in research will be
demonstrated through publications in leading journals or a research
pipeline that is at high international levels, presentations at competitive
conferences, awards, and strong endorsements by referees of top
international stature. Excellence in teaching will be demonstrated through
teaching accomplishments, strong letters of reference and the teaching
dossier (that includes a teaching statement and evaluations) submitted as
part of the application. The successful candidate will have a graduate
appointment in one of the University of Toronto's tri-campus graduate
departments.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

ICCIT focuses on teaching and research excellence in its three
undergraduate programs: Communication, Culture, Information and Technology,
Digital Enterprise Management and Professional Writing and Communication.
