Global South settings.

Please join the U-M School of Information for a one-day seminar to examine
contemporary scholarship on politicians and social media in the Global
South.
The event will feature a keynote talk by Prof. Merlyna Lim from Carleton
University, and a series of talks by scholars researching politicians in
various regions including Latin America the Middle East, Sub-Saharan
Africa, South Asia and South East Asia, as well as, speakers/practitioners
who have worked on political campaigns or large social media organizations
on which such campaigns are played out.
Talk sessions and panels include:
*Session 1: Politicians Performing Online*, featuring research from Kenya,
Nigeria, and India
*Session 2: Stakeholders and Agenda Setting*, featuring research from
Brazil, Tunisia, Syria, Palestine, and Bangladesh
*Panel: The Mechanics of Social Media Outreach*, featuring a mix of
academics and practitioners talking about approaches to social media
outreach and research in various parts of the world
