Hello everyone,
My name is Temitayo Olofinlua and I am a doctoral student at the Institute
of African Studies, University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
My work explores how young Nigerians used a particular hashtag during the
2015 Presidential elections in the country. I am looking at the uses to
which the hashtags were put, the kinds of conversations that happened, as
well as analysing how/if networks were built around the hashtag.
While I plan to use Discovertext to harvest archival tweets, I am wondering
if there are any materials on youths use of hashtags/Twitter across the
continent/world--especially during elections--that I should be looking at.
It will be great if you point me in the direction of past/recent research
in the related field(s), particularly with a qualitative slant.
Suggestions are welcome.
Thank you and enjoy your day.
Kind regards,
Temitayo
