Greetings from your conference organizing team!



We wanted to take a moment away from our unceasing labours to make AOIR 2018 Montreal one of the best conferences EVER in order to remind all of you that we are merely a week away from the Early Bird Registration deadline of August 1st.  If you are going to present in a paper panel, experimental session, fishbowl, or roundtable you MUST register by the August 1st deadline.



Why should you do this? Well, there is a financial incentive: early bird registration will give you a significant discount of up to $100.



Why must you do this?  You won't be able to present your work in the proceedings. Period. This policy is not about being punitive; it is about being able to proceed with conference planning.  Specifically, we need to know exactly who is committed to attending so that we can put together the conference program, especially in terms of creating intellectually coherent sessions out of individual paper submissions.



What happens if you register by the August 1st deadline but fate and fortune cruelly turn against you and prevent you from attending, in spite of your best intentions and heartfelt desire?  We will be happy to honour cancellation and refund requests received on or before September 1, 2018 (less a 20% administrative processing fee, of course). Finally, we also want to take this opportunity to encourage you to make your reservations at the conference hotel, Le Centre Sheraton Montréal Hotel. To be perfectly honest, we are aware that there are probably cheaper accommodation options available in a city such as Montreal, but we are contractually committed to occupying a certain number of rooms at the Sheraton and will be financially penalized if we don't (we need to pay for all of those presentation rooms!).  Thus, if you have the budgetary wherewithal to do so, please follow the better angels of AoIR and reserve your room at the Sheraton as soon as you can make your travel plans.
