"This paper examines how WhatsApp, a messenger application for smartphones,
is being used by the members of a transnational Nigerien family
to communicate on a daily basis. In particular, it explores the potentials
of WhatsApp for sociability and the effects of WhatsApp on a contemporary
extended family’s ties in western Niger."
