having safe travels home. We are hiring an Assistant Professor of  Games
and Interactive Media. See solicitation below:

The Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) at the University of
Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for an assistant professor for
research and teaching in Games and Interactive Media. This is a nine-month,
tenure-earning position that includes teaching, research, and service-based
duties. The anticipated start date is August 2019.

The successful candidate will contribute to the mission of games and
interactive media in appropriate areas of scholarship, and working at the
intersection of theory and practice. Appropriate specializations may
include areas such as game development, web design, social media, mobile
and responsive design, virtual/augmented/mixed reality, and other research
areas related to the intersection of interactive technology, art, and the
humanities. Faculty teaching responsibilities will support the Digital
Media B.A. (with specializations in Web and Social Platforms and Game
Design) and the Digital Media M.A.

The Nicholson School of Communication and Media (

collaborations. Faculty members are expected to actively pursue and obtain
external funding and to develop projects that achieve peer reviewed
recognition for innovation and excellence.

This position is among those that will be based at UCF Downtown, when the
campus opens in fall 2019. Located in downtown Orlando, the new campus will
be home to 7,700 UCF and Valencia College students to study degree programs
that align with emerging industries, within walking distance of jobs and
internships. The candidates selected for these positions will have the

Position Minimum Qualifications
By the time of appointment, applicants must hold a terminal degree in an
appropriate discipline from an accredited institution. Candidates must
demonstrate an agenda of research or creative work in a relevant area.
Candidates must possess teaching experience or demonstrated evidence of
teaching-related activities, such as workshops, training, or scholarship of
teaching and learning.

Preferences
Preference for candidates who are either 1) proficient in modern scripting
languages for development on one or more platforms, such as web, mobile, or
games, or 2) have experience and skills related to aesthetic design for
interaction. The ideal candidates will show evidence of being a theorist
and practitioner, with a demonstrated sustainable research agenda related
to digital media. Preference will be given to candidates who have a record
of obtaining research funding.
