Assistant Professor in Digital Cultures at University of Denver
The Department of Media, Film and Journalism Studies at the University of
Denver invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in
Digital Cultures to begin September 1, 2019. We seek candidates with
research agendas addressing far-reaching societal and cultural shifts
emerging alongside the growing pervasiveness of digital technologies, with
focus on cultural and ideological dimensions and impacts in areas such as:
networked and digital journalism, tech industry studies, multimedia
storytelling, and/or technology in everyday life. We are particularly
interested in those whose research methods and/or creative applications are
evolving to meet the challenges of studying digital production, practices,
data collection and use, etc.
Candidates should be prepared to help equip students with the multimedia
production and editing skills necessary to engage with the ways that
digital technologies have transformed communication-related fields across
multiple platforms, and will be asked to teach a combination of theory,
skill/production, and additional undergraduate and graduate classes
according to area of expertise. The normal teaching load is 5 courses
spread across 3 academic quarters in an academic year, prior to receipt of
tenure.
Ph.D. in media studies, mass communication or related field required by
September 1, 2019.
