Myriad aspects of the everyday have been ‘datafied’, deepening the
pervasiveness of a new logic of accumulation focused on data extraction and
analysis seeking to make profit by predicting and modifying human
behaviour. Four leading scholars in the field of digital communications and
society will discuss the challenges posed to society and democracy by this
sprawling type of 'surveillance capitalism' (Zuboff 2019).
