Dear list,

Penn State’s Rock Ethics Institute is advertising a postdoc position in Engineering Ethics. From the ad:

"We seek applicants for a Post-doctoral position that will be divided roughly 50/50 in terms of supporting the research and education missions of the REI. The research portion of the position will allow the Post-doctoral Scholar to work with members of the REI core faculty who are focused on Engineering, Technology and Ethics. These faculty are working in a diverse range of topics including ethical issues related to critical infrastructure, the food-energy-water nexus, life cycle analysis, privacy, security, online influence and manipulation, artificial intelligence, and robotics. The education portion of the position will involve collaborations with the Leonhard Center for the Enhancement of Engineering Education (http://www.engr.psu.edu/leonhardcenter) to enhance the ethics education of upper division engineering undergraduates and of engineering graduate students. The Post-doctoral Scholar will become part of a team to develop and offer workshops to prepare faculty members to integrate ethics into their courses. Depending on the interests and expertise of the successful candidate, there will be opportunities to engage in the assessment of the effectiveness of ethics education and the process through which faculty are supported to integrate ethics into their courses.”

The full ad is here: https://psu.jobs/job/90917

Penn State is a fantastic place to work, and the Rock Ethics Institute houses a super engaging and collegial group of interdisciplinary researchers. I’d be happy to answer questions about the position.

Best,
Daniel
