The Opportunity

The School of the Arts and Media is seeking a Lecturer Level B or C to contribute to teaching and research in the field of Digital Media Cultures in the School’s Media programs. The appointee will have a strong national and international profile and specialised expertise in one or more of the following areas: data-driven media research methods; digital literacies; algorithmic cultures; digital media cultures; and, digital technologies and the media industries. Industry practice and experience will be beneficial; ideally, the appointee will possess skills and experience across practice/research/theory. Experience and/or capacity to teach large courses at introductory level in an area of media theory or practice is required

  *   Salary: B/C $107,201- $149, 394 + 17% superannuation & Annual Leave loading
  *   Full time- 35hr/per week

RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific responsibilities for this role include:

  *   The conduct of tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions and studio sessions.
  *   Initiation and development of course material.
  *   Acting as course coordinator/convenor.
  *   The preparation and delivery of lectures or seminars.
  *   Supervision of the program of study of honours students or of postgraduate students engaged in course work.
  *   Supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects.
  *   The conduct of research
  *   Involvement in professional activity.
  *   Development of course material with appropriate advice from and support of more senior academics.
  *   Marking and assessment.
  *   Consultation with students.
  *   A range of administrative functions the majority of which are connected with the courses in which the academic teaches.
  *   Attendance at departmental and/or faculty meetings and/or membership of a number of committees.
  *   Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.
