The School of Communication and Multimedia Studies at Florida Atlantic University invites applications  for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Social Media and Digital Cultures to begin in Fall 2020.  We are an interdisciplinary program committed to connecting critical studies, historical research, and media practice. We value candidates who can build on those ties and whose scholarship and teaching can engage multiple areas of the School.



The search committee is receptive to scholars whose teaching and research or creative production addresses the relationship between technology and society, such as digital inequalities and algorithmic bias. We are open to a range of specializations, including:



  *   Platform studies
  *   Infrastructure studies
  *   Data and algorithms
  *   Digital publics and networks
  *   Rhetorical and strategic uses of social media
  *   Human-computer or computer-mediated interaction
  *   Game studies



We particularly encourage applicants from groups that are underrepresented in higher education, who can demonstrate excellence and leadership in research and teaching, towards an equitable culture and diverse scholarly environment.



Minimum Qualifications



PhD from an accredited institution in media studies, communication studies, science and technology studies, or a related field at the time of appointment.
